Sochi is the Black Sea resort of the Krasnodar Territory, the most fashionable, well-known, popular and beloved by many residents of Russia and the near abroad. You can only roughly indicate how much money to take in Sochi.
You can save a little by settling not in the city itself, but in neighboring resort villages, which are included in the Greater Sochi zone. Many tourists prefer to stay in Adler, where the international airport of the resort sector is located, Lazarevskoye, Matsesta and other no less lovely places with wide beaches and comfortable hotels. From these towns you can go to Sochi for shopping, nightclubs or restaurants at least every day.
It should be remembered that the high season in Sochi begins in late spring and lasts until mid-autumn. This means that in the summer, prices rise significantly.
What to take with you on vacation in Sochi - dollars or rubles, it's up to you. Some tourists do not carry large amounts of cash with them at all, but pay with cards everywhere.
Transport
Sochi can be reached both by air (the airport is located in Adler) and by land transport. Planes fly to Sochi from Domodedovo, Vnukovo and Sheremetyevo. Tourists spend at least 2 hours on the way. Ticket prices start at 3,000 and can go up to 7,500 rubles. A flight from St. Petersburg costs 3100-11400 rubles. Tourists will be on site in 3 hours 10 minutes after departure.
From the airport in Adler to Sochi there is a bus number 105 and a taxi. The bus fare is 150 rubles. A taxi will take you to the hotel in Sochi for 800-1000 rubles.
If you want to avoid moving from Adler to Sochi, you can get to the resort on the Black Sea by train or bus. From Moscow to Sochi, the train takes about 1, 5 days. A ticket for it costs 3200-4000 rubles. The bus will take you to your destination for about the same amount.
In Sochi, people travel by buses and minibuses. Tickets are bought from the driver. One trip will cost 22-26 rubles, depending on the route. The fare is indicated in the passenger compartment. If you come to Sochi for a long period, you can purchase a travel card, which costs 880 rubles and is valid for a month on public transport.
Some tourists prefer to get around the resort by taxi. For the arrival of the car, 50-100 rubles are charged, each kilometer of the way is estimated at 15-20 rubles.

Accommodation
In order to choose a suitable accommodation for your vacation, you should have a clear idea of what you expect from a trip to Sochi. If excursion tourism is a priority, then you should settle in the city center next to the railway and bus stations. If you want to soak up the beaches, then you should choose a hotel or apartment closer to the sea, so as not to waste precious moments of relaxation on long walks to the coast.
In Sochi, as in many sea resorts, there is a rule: the closer the hotel is to the sea, the more expensive its rooms will be. Local rentals also like to cheat by pointing out in advertisements that the beach is “just 10 minutes” from their house or apartment. In fact, it is quite possible that these 10 minutes will have to go by public transport.
You can settle in Sochi:
- in hostels. This is the cheapest accommodation option. The cost of a bed in a dormitory room ranges from 400 to 650 rubles per day. A double room will cost 1500-2500 rubles. The hostels "Tot Samy" on Pervomayskaya, "Panda" on Ostrovsky, "Eternal Summer" on Poltavskaya Street receive great reviews;
- in hotels. The city has hotels for every budget. There are expensive five-star hotels (RODINA Grand Hotel & SPA, Swissotel Resort Sochi Kamelia, etc.), the room in which is estimated at 8000-25000 rubles, four-star hotels, where accommodation costs 3500-4800 rubles per night, and standard 3-star hotels, where you can stay for 2000-3600 rubles;
- in sanatoriums. Accommodation in sanatoriums is chosen by the elderly and those tourists who come to Sochi for treatment. The price of a room in a sanatorium usually includes three meals a day and a certain range of health procedures. Three-star sanatoriums offer accommodation for 2300-3200 rubles per day. In more expensive sanatoriums, housing will cost 10,000-25,000 rubles per person. The latter include, for example, the Primorsky and Sochi sanatoriums;
- in apartments and apartments. The cheapest private housing will cost at least 1,500 rubles. Such inexpensive apartments or rooms are rented mainly on the outskirts of Sochi.
Nutrition
Every vacationer is concerned about the question of where you can have a hearty and inexpensive snack in an unfamiliar city. Sochi is the place where budget tourists and those who consider themselves a gourmet and are ready to spend large sums on food will find a place to their liking.
All cafes and restaurants in Sochi are divided into:
- cheap. These include the numerous street food stalls "Gyros" and "Suvlaki", where they prepare delicious oriental meat dishes - kebabs, shashliks, etc. A portion of shawarma or a similar snack will cost about 300 rubles. Lunch in the chain of canteens "We've Eaten" will cost about the same. There are 10 such canteens in Sochi, located in different parts of the city. The prices here are very affordable: a portion of fried pike perch costs 110 rubles, potato casserole with various fillings - 100 rubles, stuffed cabbage - 130 rubles, pork meat - 316 rubles, pancakes - 50-85 rubles, etc.;
- average level. The most common cafes, pizzerias, bakeries offer dinners, which will cost about 1000 rubles per person;
- expensive. This category includes trendy restaurants specializing in some of the world's cuisine. We recommend trying seafood delicacies in the city by the sea. The cost of one dish of fish or sea reptiles will be about 1000-1500 rubles. Add to this more expensive wine and desserts. It turns out that the average check in such an establishment can reach 4000 rubles.
Vacationers staying in apartments, apartments or private houses with a kitchen can purchase food from supermarkets or markets, thereby saving on food. The bazaar sells the freshest seafood, vegetables and fruits. Everything else can be found in supermarkets. The prices in grocery stores will pleasantly surprise you: all goods here are 20 percent cheaper than in the capital.
Entertainment and excursions
It is not for nothing that Sochi is considered a family resort: grandmothers and mothers rested here, and now young people come with their children. Every year, new entertainment establishments are opened in Sochi, interesting excursions are developed, playgrounds, places for recreation and much more are being built. Spending your holidays in Sochi does not get bored, because the new season usually offers something that tourists have not seen in the previous one.
A significant amount of money should be allocated for entertainment at the resort. Even those who are determined to be tough on the economy will not be able to avoid spending on the beaches. In principle, all beaches in Sochi are considered free, but on the coast within the city you can find closed areas that are attached to hotels and sanatoriums. People from outside are also allowed there, but for a separate fee - at least 200 rubles.
Renting a sun lounger on a public beach is 300 rubles. Beach attractions, which no child can easily pass by, also require costs. Going down the hill directly into the sea, jumping on a trampoline, riding catamarans is offered for 300-3000 rubles.
There are also diving centers in Sochi, where experienced instructors work who can teach the basics of scuba diving, conduct a couple of trainings. The course will cost 15,000 rubles.
Marine entertainment, as well as boat trips (from 400 rubles) or yachts (from 1000 rubles per hour) quickly get bored. If you are on vacation with children, then plan a trip to Sochi Park, a magical place that recreates the atmosphere of Russian folk tales. Here are collected interesting rides - the easiest for kids and more serious and scary for teenagers. The entrance ticket for adults costs 1,750 rubles, for children from 5 to 12 years old - 1,600 rubles.
You can hide from the summer heat and learn something new in Sochi museums. The local art museum has a good collection of Russian painting, graphics, icons, antique silver items. The museum is admitted for 200 rubles. The same is the price of a ticket to the historical museum. For 350 rubles, you can visit the exposition of the Nikola Tesla Museum, for 300 rubles - the Mechanical Museum of Leonardo da Vinci. Admiring an exhibition of sports and classic cars will cost 500 rubles.
It is worth allocating at least 4000 rubles for the excursion. For this money, you can visit 2-3 places near Sochi. For example, a tour to Krasnaya Polyana will cost 1,300 rubles, to Abkhazia - 1,800 rubles.
Everyone imagines ideal rest in their own way. For some, it is simply necessary to go to fashionable restaurants and pretentious clubs, arrange luxurious shopping for yourself, go on expensive excursions. Others will be happy with daily trips to the beach, walks along the promenade, meeting sunrises and sunsets, street food, bus trips to a neighboring resort.
Perhaps the minimum amount that may be required in Sochi is 2,000 rubles a day. It includes accommodation in the cheapest hostel, snacks in canteens or budget cafes, and buying inexpensive souvenirs. For a more comfortable existence, take with you 28-30 thousand rubles per week.
