All Crimean nature reserves can be divided into two large groups, depending on the purpose of their creation and type of activity:

  • The natural and biosphere reserves of Crimea are six specially protected areas, the very first of which, the Crimean Nature Reserve, was organized in 1923.
  • Historical and cultural reserves on the peninsula are significant urban or rural sites of particular value in terms of architecture, ancient history or cultural characteristics of the life of the Crimean population. The very first among them is the Sudak Fortress reserve, which was born in this status in 1928.

Palaces and parks

These Crimean sights are well known both to regular guests of the peninsula and to those who are in these parts for the first time. Every tourist dreams of seeing the Vorontsov Palace Museum or the Bakhchisarai Fountain, for whom a beach vacation is inconceivable without a rich excursion program.

The Alupka Palace was built in the 19th century in the Neo-Mauritanian style at the foot of Mount Ai-Petri. Several permanent exhibitions introduce the life and life of the Vorontsovs, and the park adjacent to the building is considered a masterpiece of landscape design.

The Genoese fortress in the city of Sudak was built for defensive purposes in the XIV century. Today, there is a museum on its territory, where each object is provided with an accompanying plate with detailed information about its history.

Landscapes for the soul

Natural reserves of Crimea are six objects on the territory of which plants, animals, landscapes and ecosystems are carefully preserved. The most famous is Yalta, whose territory has been permanently withdrawn from economic exploitation. The main attractions of the Yalta reserve are the Ai-Petri peak, where the cable car leads, the Uchan-Su mountain waterfall, almost 100 meters high, and the Trekhglazka cave.

In the Karadag reserve of the Crimea, two eco-trails are laid - a walking and a sea one, and the Museum of Nature is open, whose exposition acquaints guests with the local inhabitants and their peculiarities. Three species of Black Sea dolphins are found near the shores of the Kara-Dag volcanic massif, and while walking around the reserve you can observe foxes, lizards, hedgehogs and more than two hundred species of birds.
