Description of the attraction

The largest and most majestic mosque of the Crimea, Juma-Jami, was founded in 1552 during the reign of Khan Devlet I Gerai. The khan ordered the project of the mosque in Istanbul to the architect Khoja Sinan, a Greek by birth, a highly educated person. Since the completion of construction, the mosque has undergone numerous alterations and restorations. Several years ago, the mosque was completely restored in accordance with all the rules of science, with the restoration of lost details and the release of the building from architectural layers. Thus, two minarets were completely restored, which collapsed at the beginning of the 19th century as a result of an earthquake.

The mosque is the central domed building, in the plan approaching the square, from the west and from the east to which two minarets are attached. Two tiers of sparsely planted windows illuminate the two-story side galleries, covered with flat domes of three in a row. The central hall, about 22 meters high, is covered with a powerful dome with 16 windows.
