Description of the attraction

Yuexiu Park is one of the scenic spots in the Chinese city of Guangzhou. Yueshu is spread over an area of 94 hectares. This is the largest park in the city. Every spring and autumn, large exhibitions and fairs of chrysanthemums are held here.

Yuexiu Park contains many interesting and unique objects that make it one of the attractions of South China. There is a sculpture of the Five Goats, which is considered the symbol of the city. This animal symbolizes good luck and success for the local population. According to legend, in difficult and hungry times, when the land did not bear fruit, five wanderers came to the city on horseback. Unidentified people distributed rice sprouts to the population and left, leaving the animals here. After that, prosperity came to the city. The statue of the Five Goats was erected in 1959.

The five-story Zhenhai Tower is the last surviving fragment of ancient Guangzhou. This is all that remains of the old wall that surrounded the city. The watchtower was built during the Ming Dynasty, at the end of the 14th century, and was rebuilt several times over the course of six centuries. Now it is used as an observation deck, and a beautiful panoramic view opens up from here. Inside Zhenhai there is a museum, the exhibits of which reflect the centuries-old history of the city. It has been operating since 1953.

The remains of twelve cannons can be seen in front of the Zhenhai Tower. They recall the times of the occupation of the city by the Anglo-French troops during the two Opium Wars, with a total duration of 20 years (1840-1860).

There is another famous monument in the park - the obelisk of Sun Yat-sen, the first president of China and a famous revolutionary. The monument was built in 1929. The Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall periodically hosts classical music concerts.

There are three picturesque artificial lakes on the territory of Yuexiu - Nansiu, Dongxiu and Beixiu. The lakes are connected to each other by small bridges decorated in traditional Chinese style. There are walking and jogging paths around the lakes.

Also for sports fans, the park has a stadium with a capacity of 30 thousand seats, swimming pools and gyms.
