The Historical and Ethnographic Village of "Pearl Divers" is an open-air museum located in one of the oldest districts of Dubai - Al-Shindagh, not far from the mouth of the Dubai Creek. Reconstruction of the traditional settlement of pearl divers and Bedouin nomads began here in 1997 at the initiative of the city government, and now anyone who wants to come here can travel back in time and get acquainted with the architecture, customs and art of those distant times that preceded the discovery of oil fields. when Dubai - now the capital of luxury and wealth - was just a small settlement, surviving mainly through the pearl trade.
Visitors to the ethnographic village will be able to see up close how local artisans work - masters of pottery and weaving, visit a pearl exhibition, ride camels, try to tame a real hunting falcon and, of course, taste traditional dosa cakes made from lentil flour - they are generously treated by Bedouin women here. in traditional costumes with indispensable burqas that hide their faces. Round off your visit to the village by purchasing souvenirs at one of the many shops of local merchants and lunch at an authentic Arabic restaurant, which is also abundant here.
Finally, it should be said that the Museum-Settlement in Al-Shindagh is a quiet and peaceful place, which is suitable for a leisurely and relaxed vacation. There is a spike in activity just a couple of times a year during the shopping festivals and Eid in Dubai, when a multitude of curious spectators flock here to witness the traditional archery competition.
