Description of the attraction
The full name of the museum is the Ukrainian Center of Folk Culture. This is actually a real cultural, educational and research institute, created with the aim of preserving, reviving and also promoting the national Ukrainian culture. For this, the staff of the Museum of I. Honchar carry out a lot of different work. These are field expeditions, ethnological research, various scientific conferences dedicated to the culture and art of the evening. Also, contacts are expanding with the bearers of folk culture, craftsmen and researchers. In addition, the Center is trying to expand its rich collection of cultural objects, library and archives by continuing to organize and conduct exhibitions. A lot of work is also spent on creating a permanent exhibition, which allows you to fully illuminate all aspects and details of the development of Ukrainian culture, to identify its sources of origin and interrelationships with other cultures with which it happened to be in contact.
The main principle that guides the Museum of I. Honchar in its activities is the most objective and comprehensive presentation of Ukrainian national culture, directing public attention to its originality and integrity. In addition, the Center seeks to demonstrate certain phenomena of Ukrainian national culture on the example of Ukrainian life.
As a state organization, the I. Honchar Center was established back in 1993. The reason for its creation was the goal of reviving national identity, as well as preserving and developing the best traditions of Ukrainian folk art. To a large extent, the Center is trying to perpetuate the memory of Ivan Makarovich Gonchar, whose richest private collection, collected back in the 60s of the twentieth century, became the basis for the creation of the Center.
