Description of the attraction
Installed more than half a century ago, the three-meter owner of the forest, the elk, is now the happiest animal in Izhevsk. The monument was made of concrete and placed at the entrance to the city to meet guests on the seventh kilometer of the Yak-Bodyinsky tract. At first, the elk had all the signs of a male, but apparently for ethical reasons it was decided to remove this detail, so as not to embarrass the eyes of passers-by.
Over the past two decades, the monument has gradually gained popularity. At first, the hands of the jokers itched - the elk turned into a striped zebra, then into an "Easter" decoration, and then completely became an incomprehensible color. So the proud elk would have been dolled up, if a new tradition had not appeared - to come young on the day of the wedding. Despite the distance from the city, the newlyweds liked the idea, and very rarely on a weekend the monument is left without flowers and gifts. There are several versions of the tradition associated with elk and newlyweds: if the future spouse throws a bouquet of flowers on the horns and he does not fall, then in the future he will be deprived of this "decoration", the number of bouquets stuck in the horns equals the number of heirs. And probably the most attractive tradition - if you come and pay tribute to a proud elk on the day of the wedding, your family life will be long and happy.
Now next to the monument there is a cafe "U Losya" and every passing person can not only take a picture with the Izhevsk landmark, but also enjoy the fresh air of the forest with a cup of coffee.
