Description of the attraction

The Church of St. John the Merciful can be safely called the best example of folk Hutsul architecture. The wooden temple was built in 63 of the 17th century. The church is located in the old cemetery in the village of Yamna - the outskirts of Yaremche, which is on the outskirts of the city in the direction of Bukovel. The church attracts attention with its perfection and grandeur.

The Church of St. John the Merciful is an amazing structure from the point of view of the architect's idea. This structure is cruciform in plan. The central frame of the room is overlapped by a majestic tent-roofed dome, standing on a beautiful quadrangle. The central part of the church framework is clearly visible, as it rises above the small ridges of the pitched roofs. But the eastern wall of the temple is notable for an interesting extension adjacent to it.

A small iconostasis, which is located in the central blockhouse, many embroideries and ancient icons give the church interior a resemblance to a museum of folk art.

Not far from the church, a bell tower rises, uniting into the unique architectural ensemble of Yaremche. The wooden bell tower is a two-tiered landmark structure crowned with a majestic tent. The upper tier of the bell tower is stunning in its beauty, since it is executed in the form of a gallery of arches.

This church is worth visiting for everyone who is looking for peace of mind. But it is no less interesting for idle tourists, because it will allow you to touch the traditional culture and life of this region of the Carpathians.

Very beautiful church! Very beautiful church! Having been there you start to look at some things differently. It felt like I was freed from the heaviness inside myself, it became so easy on my soul. And the church itself looks very attractive.
