Description of the attraction
The Dokmai Private Garden in Chiang Mai is run by the Sihamongkol Thai family. Their goal is to share knowledge about sustainable organic gardening and agriculture. Translated from Thai “Dokmai” means “Flower”, more than 1000 species are collected in the garden!
The family is engaged in the cultivation of Thai fruits, vegetables, as well as orchids and trees. They carry out all their projects and research in close cooperation with foreign colleagues. In an area of just 25 earthly paradises, the family has collected some incredible plant species, each with detailed descriptions. Thanks to annotations, as well as experienced translators constantly working in the garden, you can get a complete understanding of Thai botanical cultures and the agricultural system.
The Sihamongkol family offers both day trips to their organic garden and permanent membership cards for those who are especially interested in it.
Dokmai Garden enjoys incredible interest from the local as well as foreign public. The guest book contains visitors from 74 countries of the world, including the USA, Great Britain, Australia, the Netherlands and even Angola, Jordan, Bhutan, Dominican Republic, East Timor, Guam and Suriname.
Despite the widespread interest of both Thai and foreign public, the Dokmai project still does not have government support and is supported by the Sihamongkol family, as well as thanks to the profits from tourist groups.
