Rio, the former capital of Brazil, is of great interest to travelers: here you can walk through the parks and Sambodrome street (famous for the annual Brazilian carnival), admire the palaces - buildings of the 19th century, visit the Maracanã stadium, as well as in poor quarters (favelas), accompanied by a guide …

Statue of Christ the Redeemer

To get to the top of Mount Corcovado, where there are observation decks (from here, from a 700-meter height, you can admire the bay, the ocean, the beautiful areas of Rio) and the statue is installed, you can use the services of a cogwheel train, the ticket for which costs 51-62 real (if you are a climber, you will be able to climb the mountain on your own thanks to specially laid rock routes). And the 30-meter statue itself, the symbol of Rio, can be reached by stairs with more than 200 steps, but if desired, travelers can use the elevator or escalator. It is worth noting that a helicopter tour around the statue can be organized for those who wish (an 11-minute journey will cost $ 150).

Sugar Loaf

The mountain (height - almost 400 m) is famous for its stunning observation deck, from where you can admire the islands, the Guanabara Bay, beaches, the statue of Christ … You can go up by funiculars in several stages (cost - R $ 53).

Copacabana beach

On the famous 4 km long beach, travelers will be able to:

  • meet celebrities and attend concerts;
  • tame the elements by getting up on the surf;
  • take part in beach volleyball and soccer matches;
  • admire the figures - masterpieces made of sand;
  • enjoy the nightlife in local clubs (for holidaymakers - ClubSix, which has 3 dance floors and 5 bars).

It is worth noting that Copacabana is a place where you can unforgettably celebrate the New Year (by tradition, gladioli, roses and lighted candles are dipped into the water; in addition, in honor of the holiday, fireworks and dances are organized until the morning).

You can get to the beach by buses No. 1134, 175, 2113, 382, 2018 (the desired stop is “Avenida Atlantica”)

Carioca Aqueduct

The structure with 42 arches (its length is almost 300 m, and its height is 18 m) is one of the symbols of Rio, previously it was used to deliver water to city fountains from the Carioca River, and since the end of the 19th century it acts as a bridge over which you can get from the center to the Santa Teresa area. Today it is worth visiting this place during the day, armed with a camera, and also in the evening to visit the nearby bars and clubs. They also celebrate Christmas spectacularly here.
