The Russian seaside resort of Gelendzhik is located on the shores of the eponymous bay of the Black Sea. The climate in the resort is very favorable for a beach holiday, and the sea in Gelendzhik and the surrounding area warms up to comfortable temperatures in the last days of May. In the high season, the water temperature rises to + 25 ° C, and vacationers can swim comfortably until mid-autumn.

The climate in Gelendzhik and the region is greatly influenced by the sea. Even in winter, in its depths, the water temperature remains quite high, and a warm mass of water constantly rises to the surface. Eastern winds drive away the waters that have cooled down from the coast and replace them with warm currents from the shores of Asia Minor. These processes create a unique microclimate in Gelendzhik. In summer, on the contrary, the night breezes drive away the too hot mass of water from the coast. During the day, the wind blows from the sea and lowers the temperature on the beach. That is why a vacation in Gelendzhik can be recommended even to those who do not tolerate strong heat.

Choosing a beach

The beaches in the Gelendzhik area stretch for several tens of kilometers, and any tourist who comes to the resort will be able to find a place to spend a vacation in accordance with their own preferences. For example, the coverage of the beaches can be both sandy and rocky, and the infrastructure can be either ideal for a comfortable stay or completely absent:

  • The central city beach is 1.5 km long. It was poured artificially, for which they brought sea sand to the bay. The advantages of relaxing on a city beach are the availability of entertainment, the necessary infrastructure and protection from storms. Cons - too crowded during the high season and not ideal cleanliness due to the large influx of tourists.
  • Small pebbles, passing in places into sand, cover the beaches of Kabardinka and Golubaya Bay. It is here that it is best to get a vacation with children. The entrance to the water on these beaches is shallow, and the sea warms up faster than in other areas of Gelendzhik.
  • Adepts of solitude and wild beauty usually stay in the Dzhanhot area. The coast there is rocky and steep in places, and therefore the descent to the beach may require good physical shape. But you can sunbathe and swim almost in privacy.
  • The coast from Dzhanhot to Praskoveevka is famous for its natural baths with sea water. The rocks, horizontally approaching the sea, form here depressions with a bottom perfectly polished by waves.
  • In Betta, the beach is covered with small pebbles and is famous for its clear waters. Perfectly streamlined infrastructure makes it one of the most popular holiday destinations in the Gelendzhik area.

The famous Arkhipo-Osipovka is overcrowded with tourists at the height of the season. The presence of a huge number of hotels, boarding houses and hotels, a variety of catering and entertainment facilities attracts thousands of guests to the village, and therefore it is difficult to call the beaches of this part of the resort perfectly clean.

For treatment in Gelendzhik

The sea, sun, mineral springs, pine air, healing mud are the main healing factors, on the basis of which a variety of treatment programs have been created in the resort's sanatoriums. Gelendzhik has several dozen preventive and medical institutions, where beach holidays can be harmoniously combined with healthy procedures. Sea water is the basis of health programs for the musculoskeletal system and skin. Sea salt is involved in the treatment of diseases of the endocrine, cardiovascular and digestive systems. In the sanatoriums of Gelendzhik, they undergo rehabilitation after injuries and operations.

In winter and in the off-season, when the weather does not allow swimming in the sea, prices for sanatorium services are significantly reduced, and treatment becomes much more affordable.

Divers note

The Black Sea can hardly be called interesting for experienced divers, but if you dream of learning the art of diving, in Gelendzhik it can be done inexpensively and with the help of experienced instructors. Diving courses at the resort are offered by several centers that issue international certificates to students who have successfully passed the exams.

If you have the necessary permits and diving experience, you will be interested in underwater excursions to sunken ships of the First World War and the Great Patriotic War and reefs in coastal waters near Dzhanhot.
