The Dead Sea is a unique natural monument and natural health resort. This salty lake, whose surface lies 400 m below sea level, is considered the saltiest body of water on the planet. Water contains a large number of components - from bromine and chlorine to rare metals. Due to such a high salinity (the salt content here is 10 times more than in the saltiest seas in the world) the water is very “dense” and looks more like a thick brine. And it is the salts that provide the world-famous healing properties of the local water and mud.
Bathing in dense, oily to the touch water leaves an unforgettable sensation and relieves many diseases. Dry, clean, with a high concentration of bromine and almost dust-free air under a pressure of about 800 mm. rt. Art., is another factor in treatment. Moreover, the sun's rays are filtered by an additional layer of air (after all, 400 m "above the norm"), and the evaporation from the water surface acts as a polarizing filter. As a result, the sun's ultraviolet radiation is greatly attenuated, which creates ideal conditions for heliotherapy.
Hotels with modern treatment and rehabilitation centers are located in the north of the Dead Sea, just a few kilometers from the mouth of the Jordan River that flows into it. And 300 meters from the place where it is believed that they found refuge after the death of Sodom and Gomora Lot and his daughter, the Dead Sea Museum was opened.
