Description of the attraction

Ulm's charming zoo attracts tourists. Small in area, it was created almost a hundred years ago, in 1927. It all started with aviaries for monkeys, luxurious pheasants and other birds, housed in a small wooden structure, and after 8 years the first reconstruction took place. The territory expanded a little, the river flowing nearby was inscribed in the overall picture and made it possible to diversify the living conditions for animals. In those years, bears and deer already lived in the Ulm Zoo, and an aquarium with rare fish became the highlight.

In 1944, after a horrific bombing raid, the Ulm zoo was closed. For nine long years everything was in desolation, but then the territory was put in order and all the work began again. This time, an aquarium and terrarium were rebuilt, and the public and city authorities came together to restore the zoo to its former glory. Since the beginning of 1956, the zoo has been in constant development: enclosures for animals and birds are being completed, new conditions are constantly being developed. A school for young naturalists appeared in the zoo, where each child could not only observe the habits of animals, but also make his own efforts to make the animals comfortable.

Another tragedy happened in 1961: a huge fire destroyed the zoo again, leaving no hope for a speedy recovery. Thanks to the staff of the zoo, animals and birds were saved and placed in other zoos in the country for overexposure, in order to return them to their home in five years. Today, the Ulm Zoo pleases not only the townspeople, it is included in the list of attractions, many tourists tend to spend time here.
