Description of the attraction

Bandung Zoo is one of the most famous places in Southeast Asia. A visit to the zoo is part of the program of any tourist who comes to Bandung, one of the largest cities in Indonesia, which, according to the 2010 census, is home to more than 2 million people.

The Bandung Zoo was opened in the 30s of the twentieth century and is located 15 minutes by car from the center of Bandung. In the 30s, Bandung actively developed and expanded; the city had two zoos - Kimindi and Dago Atas, located in different parts of the city. It was decided to combine the collections of zoos and move them to a new location, and this is how the current Bandung Zoo appeared. The entrance to the zoo is paid, the zoo is open from 8 am to 4 pm.

On the territory of the zoo, which has 14 hectares, there are about 2,000 animals that live not only in Indonesia, but also in other countries of the world. Since the island of Java, on the territory of which Bandung is located, is famous for its landscapes and unique equatorial fauna and flora, in the Bandung Zoo tourists can see almost the entire equatorial fauna of the island. In addition, on the territory of the zoo you can see giant Komodo dragons, or, as they are also called, giant Indonesian monitor lizards. The average weight of these largest lizards in the world is about 90 kg, the body length can reach up to 3 m. The monitor lizard has a very powerful tail, which takes up almost half of its body.

In addition, the zoo is home to giraffes, zebras, tigers, bears, monkeys, horses, kangaroos, porcupines, toucans, parrots. Birds can be fed with nuts, which are sold at the entrance to the zoo. There are elephants and camels.

There is a lake on the territory of the zoo, where guests can take a boat trip.
