Description of the attraction
Miniloc Island and Lagen Island are the largest resorts in the municipality of El Nido. The first resort was built on Minilok Island in 1983 and was originally a diving base for tourists from Japan and Europe. Today, the calm turquoise waters, the Big and Small lagoons in the form of an orchid flower, and the abundant marine life of the island attract hundreds of tourists. Scientists believe that these lagoons were once caves, and then they were flooded.
The Minilok resort resembles a small coastal village located in a cozy cove against the backdrop of sheer cliffs. All cabins are built with natural materials and are equipped with air conditioning, minibars, showers and toilets, as well as private verandas overlooking Bakit Bay and the islands. The resort has an open-air restaurant, boutique, children's playground, bar, conference room. Here you can rent diving equipment, ride aqua bikes, and go on a guided kayaking tour. At the end of the pier there is a wonderful snorkeling spot, where you can swim surrounded by meter-high grouper fish, beauty fish and other colorful tropical inhabitants.
Lagen Island is famous for its incredible variety of birds, most of which are endemic to Palawan Island. One of the best places to observe the bird kingdom is the Lagen trail. Here is also the Leta Leta Cave - an important burial site of the late Neolithic, in which jewelry made of stones and shells, as well as pottery were found. The cave was explored in 1965.
In one of the island's sheltered coves, fringed with lush vegetation and limestone cliffs, the Lagen resort is located - the most luxurious in the territory of El Nido. The resort is notable for its huge swimming pool - 12 by 25 meters, library and clinic.
