Description of the attraction
Kounu Koala Park is located on 14 hectares of scrubland near Perth, the capital of Western Australia. This is one of the few places in Australia where every visitor can hold a real koala in his arms and feed this adorable creature. It is this opportunity that makes the park one of the most popular places to visit for tourists.
The park was founded in 1982 and originally contained only 4 koalas, which were brought from the south of the country. Today, there are already 25 eucalyptus bears living here, and their number is increasing by about 4 individuals every year. Koalas are known to be marsupials; females carry babies in a pouch for 6 months, and then another 4 months on their backs.
In Kounu Koala Park, you can take a leisurely stroll along the paths among the thickets of the Australian bush, admire about 30 species of colorful parrots, and see the endemic inhabitants of Australia - the wild dog dingo, kangaroo, wallaby, emu, sika deer, axis and others. Some animals can be stroked - for example, they are very fond of the human affection of a kangaroo. The koala, as already mentioned, can be held in your arms and a photo taken as a keepsake. By the way, you can take a picture with an exact copy of the dinosaur, which are installed in the park. All the money raised from the photographs goes to the National Koala Research Program.
