Description of the attraction
Mira Square is a wonderful cobbled boulevard that forms the basis of the pedestrianized tourist area in the center of Mukachevo. Its architectural appearance was formed in the late 19th - early 20th centuries. The style of the Hutsul Art Nouveau prevails in it, in which a drama theater and a town hall are built.
The City Hall has a dominant position in this area of the city, it was built at the beginning of the last century. A clock with a complex mechanism is installed on its tower. At the other end of the boulevard "dominates" the Cathedral Church of St. Martin - the patron saint of the city. Nearby is the Gothic chapel of St. Joseph, an architectural and historical monument of the 16th century, where paintings from the Middle Ages have been preserved. There is also a monument in honor of Saints Cyril and Methodius on the square.
Peace Square is a traditional venue for city events. In Mukachevo, this square is rightfully called the heart of the city, it is here that the townspeople love to relax, and crowds of tourists flock here wishing to see the most beautiful old buildings that make up the wonderful architectural ensemble of the square.
The main square of Mukachev, like the rest of its squares, is small, intimate, calm and cozy. A romantic atmosphere is created by the combination of beautiful, as if magical houses, with an old pavement. The center of the square is set aside for a square, where, surrounded by low spruce trees, there is a monument to the heroes who died liberating Transcarpathia from German invaders.
