Almost all settlements of the Russian Federation today have their own heraldic symbols. Many of them have a continuity of traditions, when historical symbols are actualized. Others start from scratch, including the newly created coat of arms of Magadan, which appeared in August 1999.
Despite its relative youth, this official symbol has passed all the necessary approvals with specialists, and is included in the Heraldic Register of the Russian Federation. This means that it is made in accordance with all the rules of science, taking into account local characteristics and national characteristics.
Color range
A color photo demonstrates the laconicism of the color palette and a small number of elements, but each of them has its own meaning. A total of four colors were used, and all of them are in the top lines of the heraldic rating of tones and shades.
The shield is divided into two fields, each of them combines two colors: one is a representative of precious metals, the second is a color known in heraldry. The top field is a gorgeous combination of scarlet and gold, the bottom field is azure and silver.
Description of the coat of arms of Magadan
The coat of arms has a simple composition; it consists only of a shield, well known in Russian heraldry, the French form. The coat of arms is divided horizontally into two fields of unequal size. In the upper, scarlet field of a larger area, the author of the sketch placed the image of a golden deer. Moreover, the animal is quite old, it has large branched horns. In addition to the image of a graceful deer, there are also two golden stars, one slightly larger than the other, each of them has four rays.
A horizontal silver stripe is visible between the scarlet and azure fields. The same color depicts stylized waves on the lower azure field.
Symbols of elements and colors
The golden deer is one of the most legendary characters in local mythology. The position of the animal on the coat of arms is in a jump. It symbolizes forward and upward movement, development, improvement. In addition, it embodies the two most important sectors of the economy in this region - gold mining and reindeer herding. The scarlet color symbolizes courage, courage, heroism, gold - wealth, prosperity.
Since Magadan is often called the sea gate of the Kolyma, it is not surprising that sea waves appear at the bottom of the shield. Azure is associated with virtue, sincerity, lofty feelings, silver is a symbol of generosity, nobility.
