The international airport in Grozny is the only interstate airline in the Republic of Chechnya, located on the northern outskirts of the city of the same name. History
The first air cargo and postal transportation was carried out by Grozny airport in 1937 on U-2 and R-5 airplanes, at the same time medical and agricultural flights began to be operated. Until 1977, the airline had only an unpaved runway capable of receiving small aircraft.
At the end of the 70s, after a large-scale reconstruction, the updated airport complex began to accept for service the modern Tu-134 aircraft, connecting the region by air with major cities of the Soviet Union.
The 90s brought hard tests to the enterprise. Its entire infrastructure was seriously damaged during the fighting. But by the beginning of the 2000s, the airport, rebuilt almost from scratch, resumed freight and passenger traffic. In 2009, the enterprise received international status.
