Description of the attraction

Ambuluwawa is a mountain discovered in the 14th century by the Sinhalese king Buvanecabahu IV, located in the heart of the Kingdom of Gampola.

However, at first it was not used in any way. Ambuluwawa rises about 365 meters above sea level and 1965 meters above the level of the city of Gampola. It is known for its diverse biological composition and is covered by about 200 different plant species from 80 families. The soil here is red and rich in medicinal plants such as Iramusu, Muwa Kiriya, Nava Handi. Plantations and gardens located on the mountain contribute to the development of agriculture in Sri Lanka.

The vegetation of the area is varied and rich in evergreen forests, flowers and vines. The main reason for this is the cool mountain air. Ambuluvava is surrounded by other mountains such as Pidurutalagala in the east, Basalagela (biblical rock) in the west, Sri Pada (Adam's Peak) in the south, and Knuckles in the north. Ambuluwawa is the only Sri Lankan mountain peak surrounded by mountains that add sophistication and beauty to the landscape.

The recent transformations of Sri Lankan Minister Yayaratne have turned Ambuluwawa into the repository of a folk museum. At the top of the mountain there are three tanks that were built to supply water to the foot of the hill. The Stone Park also features various types of minerals from this mountain in order to show the importance of the stone as an element of the environment.

From the top of Ambuluwawa, a picturesque view opens up with a beautiful entrance, water and stone parks, as well as a double pond. Deer can also be spotted at the summit, and the roads run right next to the abyss, adding an element of thrill to the ride up this mountain.
