Description of the attraction
The Ammophos Palace of Culture was created on the basis of the Cherepovets House of Culture. In 1992, an agreement was signed between the employees of the House of Culture, the mayor's office of Cherepovets and JSC "Ammophos" on joint activities in the field of culture. In 1996, due to economic difficulties in the company OJSC Ammophos, the building was completely transferred under the control of the city authorities and became a Municipal institution - the city Palace of Culture Ammophos. To date, 84 clubs with 2052 participants and 20 amateur groups are successfully operating within the walls of the Palace. Together with these creative associations, active social activities are carried out, events of an all-Russian scale are held, and aesthetic education of young people is carried out. For many years, the recreation center "Ammophos" has been directly involved in the cultural life of the city and plays an important role in the formation of its cultural values.
The National Drama Theater is located on the territory of the Palace of Culture. He grew out of an ordinary drama circle, which was created in 1930 at the House of Culture of Cherepovets. In 1959, after staging the play "20 years later" by M. Svetlov, this team was awarded the title "People's Drama Theater". It was the first such theater in the Vologda Oblast to receive the title of "national". At that time, it was directed by the famous director V. N. Dessler, who stood at the origins of this theater and put a lot of effort into its creation. In 1966, he was replaced by another talented director - Yu. N. Stepson. He continued the work of his predecessor, without ceasing to reveal talents and nurture a new generation of artists from the people. Among the theater actors, pupils of these two directors, who later became famous, can be called A. Melnikov, V. Savelyeva, A. Savelyev, A. Bystrova, N. Ovchinnikova and others. They continued to work in the field of art.
In 1982, in place of Yu. N. Pasynkov, V. F. Pylnikov. During his leadership, the theater received many prestigious, at that time, diplomas and awards, and became famous not only in the Vologda region, but also abroad, including in Moscow. Today the theater is directed by L. A. Makovkina.
The National Drama Theater has always adhered to the classical tradition from the time of its creation to our times. Amateur actors, despite the lack of theatrical education, endowed with an extraordinary natural talent, clothe famous masterpieces of Russian and foreign classics in new forms and make them sound in a new way. The heroes of A. Ostrovsky, N. Gogol, A. Chekhov, M. Gorky, M. Bulgakov, F. Schiller, J. Moliere and others were embodied on the stage of the theater, the poetry of A. Pushkin, M. Lermontov, N. Nekrasov sounded, A. Blok, A. Akhmatova, M. Tsvetaeva and others.
Among the most famous productions are "20 years later" by M. Svetlov, "Treachery and Love" by F. Schiller, "Silver Bounce" by V. Pylnikov, and, of course, "Kozma Prutkov". This poetic performance was also created according to the script of V. Pylnikov. For the first time it was held in the Vereshchagin House-Museum and has repeatedly sounded here with N. Egorov in the title role. On the days dedicated to the memory of the Vereshchagins, guests came here not only from all over Russia, but also from other countries of the near and far abroad. The performance was attended by Prince Obolensky and Baroness Viren who arrived from America. This production was a huge success and was awarded the Diploma of the Union of Writers of the USSR.
Nowadays, the theater successfully continues its traditions, embodying its creative vocation to bring beauty to the world, and introduces the audience to the love and understanding of the classics.
