Many modern heraldic signs of Russian regions are based on historical symbols, or completely copy images. The coat of arms of the Orenburg region, although approved in December 1996, appeared much earlier. The imperial crown crowning the composition, the Andreevskaya ribbon framed - all these are elements that came from previous eras, when Russia was an empire.

Description of the coat of arms of the region

The color photo shows which colors and shades have been chosen for the shield and elements of the coat of arms of the Orenburg region. The most prominent representatives of the palette are scarlet, azure and gold. It is these colors in the lists of leaders of world heraldry that have long been used in various symbols of cities and territorial entities.

The compositional structure of the region's coat of arms is rather complex, in the spirit of the best traditions of ancient European heraldry. The following complexes can be identified:

  • a French-shaped shield with its own elements;
  • precious headdress of monarchs;
  • a wreath of golden oak branches intertwined with an azure Andreevskaya ribbon.

The shield is horizontally divided into two unequal parts, in the upper, painted in silver, an azure marten with scarlet eyes and tongue is depicted. Firstly, it is a bright representative of the kingdom of the local fauna, and secondly, in former times it was a valuable object of local trade, and thirdly, it symbolizes the natural resources of the Orenburg region.

The lower field is colored scarlet, which in European heraldry is associated with courage, heroism, the color of spilled blood. This bright background depicts crossing banners, each of which features a double-headed eagle, a symbol of the Russian Empire.

Above the banners is a golden Orthodox cross, which in this case is a symbol of Christianity and faith. In the lower part of the shield, under the banners, there is a golden crescent.

Empire symbols

The double-headed eagle quite often appears on historical symbols and restored coats of arms of Russian cities. True, his images differ from each other. On the main heraldic symbol of the Orenburg region, the formidable predator is depicted in black.

Individual elements of the bird's figure (beak, paws, claws) are painted gold. In addition, the heads of the eagles are crowned with precious crowns, their color is a combination of gold and azure. The imperial crown crowning the coat of arms is shown made of gold, without the use of precious stones.
