Sometimes strange things can be seen on the political map of modern Russia, for example, the existence of the city of St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region. The same story is repeated in the case of Yekaterinburg. But the coat of arms of the Sverdlovsk region and the heraldic symbol of the regional center have one common symbol - the image of a sable.
Description of the coat of arms of the region
The main heraldic symbol of the Sverdlovsk region can be presented in full and small versions, which have an equal right to be used in official documents.
The small version is a chic scarlet French shield with a profile picture of a silver sable holding a golden arrow in its paws. In this case, the arrow with its tip is directed downward, that is, the sable acts as the winner. The second important element of this version is the emperor's crown, which is located above the shield.
The full version of the coat of arms of this regional center, in addition to the shield with the image of a sable, contains the following elements:
- the imperial crown crowning the composition;
- supporters in the images of golden griffins;
- flags of the area in the paws of the same griffins;
- a foot formed by cedar branches for a shield and shield holders;
- scarlet ribbon with the motto of the Sverdlovsk region written out.
Color palette and symbology
On the one hand, the color palette of the heraldic symbol is restrained, on the other, the composition looks very magnificent and solemn. This is due to the large amount of gold used in the coat of arms. The crown, griffins, flagpoles, a rather massive base are painted in gold.
The second place in percentage on the coat of arms is taken by the rich-looking scarlet color used for the background of the shield, individual elements of the base. In any color photo, against the background of gold and scarlet, a silver sable stands out brightly, as one of the most valuable symbols of the Siberian kingdom (in a historical context).
The sable migrated to the region's coat of arms from the Verkhoturye coat of arms, but changed its color - from black to silver. This entailed a change in meaning, that is, the animal does not symbolize hunting or furs, the use of this image approaches the ermine, which is a symbol of independence, pride, purity. The appearance of griffins on the coat of arms is also no coincidence, they act as mythological guardians of the treasures of the Urals. The meaning of the foot made of cedar paws is clear a priori, the cedar is a symbol of the taiga, it indicates the richness of the forests of the region.
