An interesting fact is that the coat of arms of the Moscow region is very reminiscent of the main official symbol of the Russian capital itself. The roots of this phenomenon should be sought in Russian history, since the sketch of the image is based on the coat of arms used in the Moscow province, officially introduced in 1856.
Similarities and differences
The main heraldic symbol of the Moscow region depicts the same characters, in the same composition as on the coat of arms of Moscow. The central place is occupied by the figure of St. George the Victorious. He is depicted wearing a knight's armor and riding a horse. The composition is well known - a warrior defeating a snake (dragon).
There are differences between the heraldic symbols of Moscow and the region, which are clearly visible in the color photo. Firstly, the warrior is turned in the other direction, and secondly, a different color palette is used, more colorful, bright, there are differences in the coloring of individual elements.
The color of the shields is the same - a popular heraldic, rich looking scarlet color. In addition, the riders on both coats of arms are also depicted in one color - precious, silver. The main difference concerns the image of a serpent (dragon): a black serpent on the city's coat of arms; golden serpent with green wings on the coat of arms of the region.
Another significant difference is that there are three versions of the region's coat of arms that can be used equally. The first option is a shield with the famous scene in which George defeats the dragon. There is also a variant of the coat of arms, in which there is a ribbon around the shield; it symbolizes the three Orders of Lenin that the region was awarded with. In the third version, the shield is presented with an imperial crown (precious with precious stones), crowning the composition.
On the coat of arms of the Moscow province, taken as the basis for the modern symbol, of course, there were no ribbons associated with the Orders of Lenin. In the frame of the shield there were golden oak leaves, which were fastened with the Andreevskaya ribbon.
