Description of the attraction
The only military museum in Western Ukraine is the Volyn Regional Museum of Ukrainian troops and military equipment, which is located in the city of Lutsk along Na Taborishche street, 4.
The Lutsk Museum of Ukrainian Troops and Military Equipment was founded in 1999 by order of the Minister of Defense of Ukraine and with the help of the Dzherela public organization, which was headed by Yaroslav Chisyuk. The museum was created on a voluntary basis at the expense of this organization. For the museum, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine allocated a military town in the city center and two buildings erected in 1925.
The exposition of the museum was planned to be created in two sections: the first section - an exposition of modern military equipment and weapons in an open area, the second section - a thematic historical and chronological exposition. In September 1999, the presentation of the museum took place, and in mid-2000, after the completion of the first stage of the exposition, an exhibition of military weapons and equipment was opened.
Nowadays, the exhibition of the Volyn Regional Museum presents 74 samples of military weapons and equipment: armored vehicles, artillery weapons, anti-aircraft missile and aviation systems, communications troops and logistics services of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which were collected and delivered here from different military units.
In 2004, the museum opened the permanent exhibitions "Equipment and equipment of the signal troops" and "Armament of the Air Defense Forces and the Air Force". In the same year, the grand opening of the current exhibition "Pages of the military history of the Volyn region" and the library took place.
To date, the museum contains over 1000 exhibits. Interesting thematic exhibitions are held for visitors to the Volyn Regional Museum of Ukrainian troops and military equipment.
