Description of the attraction
The Museum of Military Equipment is one of the attractions of the city of Temryuk, located on both sides of the highway, on a small hill (Miska volcano), southeast of the settlement.
The opening of the museum took place in 1983 and was timed to coincide with the 40th anniversary of the liberation of the Taman Peninsula from the Nazi invaders. The initiators were veterans of the Great Patriotic War, local authorities and employees of the Temryuk Historical and Archaeological Museum. To date, there are more than 100 exhibits in the museum's funds. This is the largest museum of its kind in the country.
The exposition of the museum is military equipment from the times of the Great Patriotic War and the post-war period, illustrating the defeat of the enemy in Taman in 1943 and the end of the Battle for the Caucasus. Many types of military equipment are presented here: aircraft, torpedo boats, tanks, missiles, small arms and much more.
A relatively new museum exhibit - the "Voennaya Gorka" boat, is of particular interest to museum visitors. This combat boat has served the Russian naval forces for over 25 years. Today the sea vessel has taken its rightful place among the exposition. This exhibit was installed on the 65th anniversary of the Victory Day thanks to the initiative of the head of the municipal formation of the Temryuk region.
Visiting the museum of military equipment, guests can also see wonderful panoramas of the suburbs of Temryuk, opening from Mount Miska. From here, you can see most of the entire Taman Peninsula with its interesting estuaries and floodplains, mud hills and vineyards.
Located on the extinct volcano Temryuk Museum of Military Equipment is the hallmark of the city, a venue for various events on memorable and anniversary days.
