This museum was created by the regional charity fund "Heritage" named after Boris Vitkov. Over the course of four years, A. A Zagibalov, N. A Vitkova, A. Vitkov have worked on the creation of this museum. The collection has also been replenished with exhibits from Donetsk residents and representatives of Donbass communities from Moscow or Kiev, as well as other cities.

This exposition was created according to one of the historical and technological principles, which uses a thematic method. A collection of 300 different rare copies of photographic accessories and photographic equipment was also collected. This museum also has an archive of photographic materials. The director of the museum is Aleksandr Vitkov. And the area of the museum itself is about 20 square meters.
