Description of the attraction
The collection of the Bavarian National Museum dates back to an exhibition in 1885 at Duke Max's Fortress, which soon became cramped. The requirements for a historical museum were then put into practice by the architect Gabriel von Seidl. The interior of the museum complex, built in 1894-1900, stylistically repeats those epochs whose works are exhibited in the halls, and the exterior, in terms of architectural forms and style of construction, is completely opposite to the internal content.
The exposition of the museum includes two large collections: folk art and art history. The applied arts department displays crystal products, furniture, and Christmas scenes with numerous characters. On the second floor: German porcelain, clocks, glass painting, ivory products, textiles and gold jewelry.
