Poland is one of the best shopping destinations. However, when planning to go shopping, you should take care of the possibility of using tax free.
How to use tax free
The scheme is simple, so most of those who wish can use the offered service.
- First, in Poland, you need to find stores with the Global Blue Tax Shopping logo. When paying for your purchase, you must ask for a form to fill out, which can be white or blue. You will need to fill in each box with block letters. Please note that a blank form will result in a VAT refund denial.
- Before leaving Poland, you need to set aside time to receive tax free. Before you leave, you should go to the customs counter with a completed form, saved cashier's receipts, foreign passport and packed purchases. All this will need to be submitted to confirm the fact of purchase on the established terms. At this stage, you should prepare for the fact that the absence of a customs seal will not allow you to use the refund service. The document must bear not only the customs seal, but also the personal seal of the customs officer.
- You can now cash out the form. To do this, go to the Return Point counter, which is distinguished by the Global Blue logo. You will need to provide a form and a customs stamp. Refunds will be paid in cash. In doing so, you will receive the VAT amount from which the Global Blue administration fees have been deducted, but even this fact retains the maximum shopping benefit.
Who can benefit from tax free
Tax free in Poland is particularly advantageous. At the same time, you can use this opportunity only if you have permanent residence outside the EU. For VAT refunds, the minimum purchase amount must be PLN 200.
Refunds are only possible if you export the goods in your personal baggage, keep the original packaging and do not open it. In Poland, the tax free system does not apply to services and fuel for transport.
The standard VAT rate is 23 percent, on food and pharmaceuticals - 8 percent, on agricultural products and handicrafts - 5 percent.
The tax free form is valid for seven months from the date of purchase of the goods, but purchases cannot be unpacked until the tax is refunded, and the form and receipts must be retained.
