Description of the attraction
The Museum of Military Equipment in Magnitogorsk is an open-air museum that is one of the city's cultural attractions. The exhibits are located on the street of the Soviet Army on the territory of the House of Defense.
On the banks of the Urals, you can see a dozen military exhibits, including armored cars, BRDM, BMD-1, BMP-1 and BTR-80, T-72 tank, armored artillery tractor, floating transporter, anti-aircraft missile system, GAZ-64 all-terrain vehicle and BM-13 "Katyusha", aircraft L-29, etc. Going down the steps from the "Katyusha", you can go to the river bank, where a monument to sailors and an anchor are erected.
The history of the Museum of Military Glory began from the moment of its creation in 1999. ROSTO activists, city leaders and veterans of military service took part in its foundation. Exhibits are transferred to the museum from military units deployed in the South Urals, as well as from the sports and technical clubs of ROSTO and other organizations. The collection of the museum never ceases to be replenished with new exhibits. The collection of exhibits is supervised by the chairman of the city council of ROSTO - V. Murovitsky.
Employees and activists of the city defense organization work as guides in the museum. During a tour of the open-air museum, you can learn many interesting facts related to the history of military equipment, see military exhibits that were used during the war years.
Visitors to the museum are primarily students and students of higher and secondary educational institutions, not only in the city, but also in the surrounding rural areas. Educational and military-patriotic work is carried out on the basis of the Magnitogorsk Museum of Military Equipment, as well as the acquaintance of recruits with military service.
