Modern Shymkent is an important center of the South Kazakh region, as well as the third city in terms of importance and area in Kazakhstan. Until now, it could not be called too popular with travelers, but due to the recent financial crises, it is becoming an increasingly attractive alternative to the exotic far abroad.
In fairness, it should be noted that the city is completely undeservedly deprived of attention, because in addition to stunning nature and unique panoramas for photos, it can offer delicious cuisine, as well as a powerful excursion program. After all, this city still remembers Timur's Golden Horde, so there is clearly something to interest a tourist here.
The city itself is also preparing to receive guests. Moreover, the preparations were so thorough that even the coat of arms of Shymkent was updated.
History of the city coat of arms
And although Shymkent has a very ancient origin, there was no talk of the formation of any separate symbolism until the XIV-XV centuries. At this time, the city became the center of attention of the Russian Empire and became part of its regions. It is interesting that it was after joining another state that the official symbols of the city began to be drawn up.
However, the city experienced the most rapid growth, being a part of the Russian Empire, and later the Soviet Union. Each stage was accompanied by a rewriting of the history of the city and a change in its official symbols. In total, the coat of arms has changed 4 times and the last change can be considered the most dramatic.
Description of the composition
The modern coat of arms consists of the following elements: blue background; an eight-pointed star enclosed in a circle; sun over the mountain; city name. The meaning of the symbols is easy to decipher since, on the whole, it is made in full accordance with generally accepted traditions. For example, the blue background is the sky, and the sun over the mountain is a symbol of greatness, wisdom, and elevation above worldly problems. The additional meaning of this composition is abundance and anticipation of better times.
The eight-pointed star deserves special attention. According to the classical definition, it is a symbol of destruction and chaos, however, being inscribed in a circle, it acquires a completely opposite meaning. In this case, it means order and the creation of a new one.
