Description of the attraction
The Uglich Museum of Urban Life of the XIX-XX centuries was opened on October 1, 2004 in the former city public library (even earlier, the tea shop of the merchant V. I. Kashinov was located here). In two halls of the museum there is an exposition telling about the life, way of life, customs and traditions of Uglich people of past eras, numbering 300 exhibits. In the first hall showcases of shops with goods - handicraft and trade items of Uglich citizens are presented. The most interesting exhibits are tiles, ceramic dishes, Tula samovars, travel bags, caddies, boots, scales, etc. In another hall, the interiors of the rooms of a middle-class citizen of Uglich are reproduced: an office, a dining-living room, a ladies' room. The most interesting here are carved chairs, armchairs, tables of the 19th century, dishes, samples of women's handicrafts, old photographs, sheet music, and a family archive.
In addition to the traditional excursion, visitors are offered several animation programs that help to plunge into the atmosphere of bygone times and are the hallmark of our museum. The museum has a tea house, the interior of which is made in the style of the 19th century.
Tourists are invited to take pictures in costumes reminiscent of 19th century fashions and try on hats based on fashion magazines and product catalogs of that time.
