Description of the attraction
The Central Museum of Internal Troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia was founded in December 1968 and opened in February 1972. The exposition of the museum introduces the glorious history of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.
The museum's funds have accumulated and carefully preserved archival documents, photographic and film materials, samples of firearms and edged weapons, various military equipment, samples of military uniforms, personal belongings, military awards, models of military equipment. The museum contains a unique collection of short-barreled weapons of the 19-20 centuries.
In March 2011, a renewed museum exposition was opened to visitors. In preparation for the celebration of the bicentennial of the internal troops, a large-scale reconstruction of the museum was carried out. The exhibition area of the museum has been increased to one thousand square meters.
In the new museum exhibition you can see historical materials about all significant events in which the internal troops took part. A special place is occupied by an exposition dedicated to the fight against terrorism and ensuring the security of the most important state facilities.
In the renewed exposition, you can see a collection of military banners of military units (there are 830 of them). The collection of orders and medals consists of 700 samples. The collection of small arms contains 400 different designs. The museum's photo collection contains more than twenty thousand photographs and negatives, as well as thousands of various documents.
The museum has developed thematic and sightseeing tours for various groups of visitors. There are special excursions for school students. The museum holds field thematic exhibitions in various government agencies, representative exhibitions in government bodies: the State Duma of the Russian Federation, the Federation Council of the Russian Federation. At the State Kremlin Palace. Exhibitions are held in various cultural and social centers, and in the military units of the internal troops.
The museum prepares and publishes books. In recent years, the books "Battle Banners of Russia", "Internal Troops: A Historical Essay", "Departmental Medals of the Power Structures of Russia" and others have been published. For the bicentennial anniversary of the Internal Troops, a fundamental work was prepared and published - "History of Internal Troops".
