Description of the attraction
Playa Bonita beach on the Pacific coast is located near the Bridge of the Americas. You can get to it in 15-20 minutes by taxi. The beach, like the rest of Panama's beaches, is municipal, so not only guests of nearby hotels can relax on it, but also all tourists who wish it.
The area near Playa Bonita was once considered closed to ordinary residents of Panama and visitors, as the American military ruled here. There was a US Army base on the coast. Recently, the area has been actively developing, luxury hotels with swimming pools are being built here. Some of them are trying to make sections of the beach adjacent to their territory private, but this is illegal. Playa Bonita beach itself is rocky, but this feature does not interfere with enjoying the calm waters of the Pacific Ocean. Locals have long noticed that there are rarely waves here, so the beach is suitable for families. Playa Bonita offers magnificent views of the ocean and the island of Taboga, which is located a short distance from the coast.
Travelers who stay at hotels lined up along Playa Bonita have easy access to both Panama City's attractions and nearby tourist sites. Day trips from here can be taken to the Soberania National Park, which is located about 40 km from the city.
The infrastructure in Playa Bonita is excellent. There are sun loungers, umbrellas, a diving equipment rental point, and along the coastline there are small cafes serving delicious fish and seafood. There are golf courses adjacent to the beach, so if you wish, you can devote a few hours to this calm game.
