Description of the attraction
A walk through the Butterfly and Insect Park on Sentosa Island will be impressive not only for professionals, but also for lovers of these fragile representatives of the fauna.
There are about 300 species of butterflies in the park. Here natural conditions of existence have been created for them. The collection of tropical butterflies, numbering about 50 species, attracts the most attention. They amaze not only with the variety of bright colors, but also with their size. And in the “house of dolls” the process of transformation of a doll into a butterfly is presented to the attention of visitors.
The area of 20 hectares is also home to a wide variety of other insects. The so-called "insect kingdom" is also worth a visit. This is a 70-meter room that looks like a cave. It contains various beetles and spiders such as rhinoceros beetle, scorpion, tarantula, huge centipedes, stick insects. The open-air cage with fireflies emitting their pleasant light in the semi-darkness of the room certainly amazes with its unusual beauty and attractiveness.
In addition to insects, the park contains more than 7 thousand exotic birds, among them there are friendly macaw parrots that allow themselves to be hand-fed.
The park amazes not only with the variety of fauna, but also with its rich flora. Among the dense tropical thickets, pleasant music and the voices of birds sound from the speakers. Anyone can take part in the event, which involves birds and reptiles. They will also learn how to handle poisonous insects, under the guidance of park specialists. After the excursion in nature, guests can visit the Museum of Entomology or a gift shop where you can buy stuffed butterflies, jewelry, key rings, postcards and much more.
