Among the heraldic compositions of cities and regions of Russia, there are very pompous, magnificent, solemn ones. In contrast to them, the coat of arms of Tambov looks very cute, cozy and homely. The characters and elements present on it, at the same time, speak of the long history that this main official symbol has lived.
Description of the Tambov coat of arms
The earliest version of the heraldic sign of the settlement appeared in August 1781, this time is characterized by an increased interest in heraldry, many cities of the Russian Empire acquired their own symbols.
The modern image of the coat of arms of Tambov was approved by the City Duma in August 2008; in October of the same year, minor changes were made to the regulation on the official symbol of the city. This normative act approved the description, colors, order of reproduction and use.
The second important nuance is that the official symbol of the city is made in accordance with all the rules of Russian heraldry, therefore it took its place in the State Heraldic Register of the country.
The very composition of the heraldic symbol is quite simple - it is a French-shaped shield (very popular in the heraldry of Russian cities), on which there is an image of a hive and three bees accompanying it. The colors in the coat of arms were distributed as follows:
- azure is chosen for the background of the shield;
- gold - for a wicker hive and insects, human friends;
- green (emerald) - for the grassy base on which the hive is installed.
On the one hand, the color palette looks laconic, on the other hand, the selected colors and shades are very bright, saturated, so the shield looks very nice in all color photos (much better than in black and white photos).
The history of the heraldic symbol of Tambov
The first such image did not appear on the coat of arms or emblem of a settlement. By tradition, certain symbols were adorned with regimental banners. Here is the same story with this city. At first, a golden beehive with bees could be seen on the banners of the Tambov Dragoon Regiment.
In 1871, the city's coat of arms was approved by the highest decree. Even then, it was a French shield with already familiar symbolic elements. Bees have always been associated with characteristics such as hard work, good neighborliness, and harmony. It is in this sense that they are depicted on the heraldic symbol of Tambov, emphasizing the hard work of local residents.
