Description of the attraction

Red Lake Laguna Colorada, one of the most visited places in Bolivia. Tourists from all over the world strive to see the stunning beauty of a salty, shallow lake, completely red. The lagoon is located in the Eduardo Avaroa National Park on the Altiplano plateau. The waters of the lake have such a bright, unique color, due to the presence of sodium tetraborate, or in other words borax - pentavalent iron salts. It was formed as a result of centuries-old deposits of various algae. Sometimes the lagoon is called the Red Lake. Interestingly, the color of the lagoon changes depending on the weather, most often due to clouds. The lake can play in a variety of colors, from dark shades of red to the exact opposite of green or yellow. In addition to being amazingly beautiful in itself, Laguna Colorada is also a paradise for a population of thousands of pink flamingos. Their nesting site in this place numbers more than 30 thousand birds. Against the background of red waters, their plumage takes on a brighter shade, so flamingos seem fantastically beautiful birds. In addition to them, the area of the lake is inhabited by other birds - parinachika, sap of cornud and other species of rare birds. From the animal kingdom, there are chinchillas, vicuñas and llamas. This unusual place attracts travelers from different countries who, having seen the Red Lagoon of Colorada, remain impressed by the colorful surroundings of the lake for a long time and leave with a huge number of spectacular photos.
