The volcanic origin of the island of Santorini has provided it with a unique feature - a variety of colorful beaches. Within one day, you can visit beaches with completely different types and colors of sand - black, red or white. The most popular of these are the two black beaches in the southeast of the island, the famous Perissa and Kamari. These are the widest and longest beaches in the area, with many hotels along the water line.
But the most attractive is another beach, which is located just a few steps from the ancient city of Akrotiri. This is one of the most picturesque beaches in Santorini - Red Beach. The color of the beach is due to strong winds blowing red dust from the rocks into the water. In addition to the unusual color of the sand, even for a coastal strip of this kind, Red Beach is distinguished by a unique landscape and surrounding landscape. In addition to towels and water, it is worth taking a camera here - the pictures will turn out to be simply amazing. The contrast of fiery red rocks and turquoise water is extraordinary.
The water on the beaches of Santorini is constantly cool, even in the heat, because the clear sea has a great depth right next to the coast. In addition, it is often windy here, as it is on all the Greek islands. What does not bother tourists at all, this place is invariably crowded, the beach is small enough and quickly filled.
Access to the recreation site is either a two-minute walk down from the parking lot, or by boat from the port of Akrotiri.
