Description of the attraction

Trinity Church is located in Vladimir, in its historical center at the intersection of Museum Street and Podbelsky Street. It is surrounded by old city buildings from the mid 19th - early 20th centuries. The view of the church opens from the west and south sides. The best viewpoint is the north-western side of the intersection of Muzeinaya and Podbelsky streets.

The Trinity Church was first mentioned in 1626 in the descriptive book of the Vladimir Kremlin. Initially, the church was wooden and was built, most likely, at the expense of the townspeople of Vladimir.

It is not known whether there was a temple on this place before. The mention of this temple can also be found in 1628 and 1655. In 1719, the wooden Trinity Church with the warm Sergievsky side-chapel burned down during a fire.

The current building of the temple was erected in 1740. In 1746, a side-altar was added to it on the north side, together with it, a high three-tiered bell tower was simultaneously built, ending with a high spire. A tent was attached to the bell tower from the south.

Initially, the temple building consisted of the main volume, which was an octagon on a pillarless quadrangle, a refectory room and a semicircular apse. The main volume is connected to the refectory room by a wide arched opening. The main volume is a rather small room, which is now covered with a flat ceiling. The floor here is wooden. The main volume of the Trinity Church in the plan is a square. Window openings of the building have wide slopes and bulbous ends.

Once the altar apse was connected by an opening of three arches, now it is laid. A new rectangular opening was made on the north side. The altar apse is a small semicircular room, which is covered with a conch.

The building of the Trinity Church was built on red brick mortar. The decoration of the temple is typical for the posad temples of the late 17th and early 18th centuries. The facade of the building is decorated with trims with keeled kokoshniks; the pattern of the trims is not repeated anywhere. The main volume of the building is typical for this kind of temples. The two upper bell tiers were rebuilt at a later time. In the volumetric-spatial composition of the building, there is a high three-tiered bell tower and the main quadrangle on the octagon, which ends with two octal figures and an onion dome.

The first tier of the bell tower is a small room, which is covered with a corrugated vault. Previously, the premises of the first bell tier were connected to the tent on the south side. Now this opening has been laid. A new opening was made on the north side. It has a rectangular shape and connects the first tier of the bell tower with the northern aisle of the temple.

The refectory in the northern part is connected to the aisle by a wide arched opening. Near the wide arched opening connecting the refectory and the first tier of the bell tower in the western part there is a small rectangular opening that also connects the tent.

The building of the temple is made in the traditional forms typical for the posad churches of Suzdal and Vladimir of the late 17th - early 18th centuries.
