Description of the attraction

At the end of the 18th century, recreation on the waters and in seaside resorts became popular in Britain. Many small seaside towns are turning into popular resorts. This happened with Blackpool. Since a seaside vacation in the 19th century did not involve sunbathing in a bikini on the beach, but leisurely walks along the beach, the embankments are becoming the main streets of seaside cities. In Blackpool, such a street is the Promenade and three piers - North, Central and South.

The northern one, as the name implies, is located north of the others. It is also the oldest and longest of the piers. The North Pier was built in 1863, and during the construction process it became clear that the planned height of the pier needed to be increased by almost a meter. Now the height of the pier is 15 meters above the water level at low tide, the length is 500 meters. On the pier there is a cafe, a tea room, slot machines, a carousel, etc.

The central pier was built in 1868. While the North Pier offered exquisite entertainment for the aristocracy, the Central Pier was designed for a simpler audience: dance halls, then rollerblading, the dock of pleasure boats. In 1990, a Ferris wheel was installed on the pier, for which it was necessary to strengthen the central part of the pier.

The South Pier was opened in 1893 and was called Victoria Pier until 12930. It is shorter and wider than the other two piers. it was originally designed for a larger number of pavilions with entertainment, shops, etc. Now, there are mainly various attractions.
