Description of the attraction
The zoo in the resort town of Blackpool in the UK was founded relatively recently, in 1972.
The zoo's collection includes a wide variety of animals. There are elephants, giraffes, lion pride, Amur tiger, wallaby and kangaroo. There is an aviary in which a family of mountain gorillas live, and in 2010 they had a cub. On a walk through the "Lemurian Forest" you can see different types of lemurs. The exhibition entitled "Amazonia" showcases animals and birds that live in South America.
The zoo has a terrarium and aviaries with pools that house sea lions and penguins.
In 2005, the "Dinosaur Safari" exhibition opened, featuring life-size figures of various dinosaurs, but this section is not very popular.
Things are quite different with the Children's Farm - an open-air cage where small children can touch and play with domestic animals: donkeys, sheep, piglets, llamas, dwarf goats and others. There are always a lot of visitors here, which once again confirms Blackpool's reputation as a family resort.
