The largest business and scientific center of the Southern Urals, Chelyabinsk is in the top ten industrial Russian cities. The Garden of Stones on the banks of the Miass
Next to the Museum of Local Lore on the embankment of Chelyabinsk there is a unique open-air exposition. This is the Garden of Stones, which has nothing to do with Japanese counterparts. Local stones are samples of rocks that are mined in the South Urals.
The history of the Garden of Stones began in 1986, when samples of the Ural minerals were exhibited in the new square on the occasion of the 250th anniversary of the city:
- The weight of the largest exhibits reaches several tons.
- The stones of the garden come from the famous deposits - Ufaleisky and Satkinsky, Makarovsky and Koelginsky.
- Each exhibit is provided with a plate with a detailed description and the place where it was obtained.
- The most interesting representatives of the Garden of Stones are traditionally considered samples of jasper.
- The original exhibit is a marble bench made of a valuable mineral mined near the city.
- The Stone Garden on the embankment of Chelyabinsk is part of the exposition of the city museum of local lore, which preserved the exhibits in the 90s of the last century and revived it in its modern form.
The second opening of the popular exhibition of minerals took place in 2012 on City Day.
