Description of the attraction
Tashkhan is an old inn for travelers, located about ten kilometers from the city center and dating back to the 16th century. Tashkhan or "Stone Inn", as well as the aqueduct are considered one of the main historical attractions of Marmaris. Both structures were built in 1522. This traditional caravanserai met traders, travelers and conquerors who passed through this region.
Now there is little reminiscent of those distant times when merchants took refuge here from predatory raids. The caravanserai symbolizes the hospitality of Marmaris. It hosts various cultural events for tourists, colorful music and dance shows, small cafes, shops selling souvenirs that will be a great reminder of visiting Marmaris.
The upper part of the inn is surrounded by graceful arches and is located on a narrow street leading to the castle. Built in the Merzifon region in a typical Ottoman style and rectangular in plan, the caravanserai consists of one large and seven small rooms. It is a great place to visit for tourists.
