Description of the attraction

International Museum of the Reformation - a museum located in the old part of the city of Geneva and informing about the history of the Reformation in 14 thematically arranged exhibitions. The occupied area is 350 square meters.

Drawing on archival documents and a collection of paintings, the museum offers a detailed chronicle of the history of the Reformation from its beginnings to the present day. Here you can see collections of manuscripts, prints and even cartoons. A particularly valuable exhibit is the French Bible, which was printed in 1535.

The International Reformation Museum receives over 25,000 visitors a year.

Professor Oliver Fatio, founder of the museum, took care of the scientific content of the exhibitions. The museum also uses audio-visual technology to display various topics, for example, you can listen to the performance of Huguenot psalms, Lutheran chants, etc.

The items and documents on display came here from a variety of sources, including the Geneva library, city Protestant churches and numerous private donors. The museum contains a complete series of "Political Speeches" by the poet Pierre de Ronsard, as well as handwritten original letters from such world-famous personalities as Catherine de Medici, Kings of France Charles IX, Henry III, Henry IV, Michel de Lopital, and others.
