Description of the attraction

Folgarida is one of the oldest ski resorts not only in the Val di Sole in the Dolomites, but throughout Italy - the first skiers appeared here back in 1965. The town lies at an altitude of 1300 meters above sea level, surrounded by a pine forest, just 9 km from another popular ski center - Madonna di Campiglio. Together with the neighboring resort, Marilleva is included in a single ski area and offers tourists a wide variety of recreational opportunities.

Folgarida, lying on the road between Dimaro and Passo Campo Carlo Magno, is today considered one of the most important economic centers of the Trentino-Alto Adige region. For centuries, Mount Folgarida has been used for the forestry industry, and its slopes have served as excellent pastures. The first mention of the town of the same name dates back to 1220. Today, tourism is the main source of local income.

With a total length of 62 km, Folgarida pistes are mostly classified as "red" and "blue" and are suitable for both beginner skiers and confident professionals. Here is one of the most difficult "black" tracks in the region with a height difference of up to 600 meters. In 1999, the World Snowboard Championship was held in Folgaride.

Folgarida itself has many cozy hotels, bars and restaurants, an ice rink and several ski schools. And not far from the city, in the narrow valley of Val Meledrio, there is a small chapel - it was built on the place where in the Middle Ages on the top of the Santa Brigida hill there was a shelter founded by the legendary Knights Templar.
