Description of the attraction
"European Dream Islands" are called two wonderful islands, officially called Bolshoy and Maliy Katic, and in everyday life called Katic and the island of Sveta Nedelya (Holy Resurrection). They are located in the Adriatic Sea opposite the Petrovac resort. The islands, which are separated by only a small strait, are clearly visible from the city beach. True, one of them obscures the other, and it is impossible to examine each in detail. The most beautiful photographs are taken by tourists from the deck of a pleasure ship. By the way, both islets can be visited. On a small island called Sveta Nedelya, there is a church rebuilt after the 1979 earthquake, or more precisely, rebuilt from scratch. The church, according to the urban legend, was built by the survivors of the shipwreck sailors in gratitude to Heaven for their salvation. People come to this temple to pray for those at sea.
Another island, which the locals call Katic, is considered less interesting than the island of Sveta Nedelya. It consists of several rocky formations on which conifers grow. In addition, there is a beacon that gives off a light signal that is visible from a distance of six miles.
There are sea reefs near these two islands. The most interesting dives take place near the Donkova Seka underwater cliff. This part of the Adriatic Sea is under the protection of the state of Montenegro and is considered a protected area.
To visit the island of Katic, you need to arrange with local fishermen, who will gladly take you on a sea excursion.
