Description of the attraction

The central city square of Siauliai is the Resurrection Square. It was from this place that the city began to develop in ancient times. Resurrection Square is the real heart of the city, conditionally the square is divided into several parts by the Ausros alley and st. Tilges. For many centuries in a row the square was the center of merchant trade. People and merchants have come and gone here to offer their wares. Later, the status of a trade center was given to the Turgaus square.

Nowadays, Resurrection Square is the central place for city holidays, demonstrations, theatrical performances and meetings. It is also one of the favorite places for recreation and pastime of local residents and guests of the city. On the square is the Cathedral of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul, built at the beginning of the 17th century.

On the Resurrection Square there is a sculptural composition "Grandfather with his grandchildren", which adorned one of the squares in 1976. This sculptural group was made by master B. Kasperavičienė. This composition conveys a sense of warmth and friendship between the older and younger generations. The composition "Grandfather with his grandchildren" is included in the list of cultural monuments of the city, being an art monument of local importance.

The "Solar Discs" fountain was opened in 2003 on the day of the city of Siauliai, then it turned 770 years old. It was designed by Gintautas Lukosaitis. The fountain is located in a small restored and renovated park. Locals and tourists alike come to the fountain to enjoy the peace and beauty of the murmuring water.
