The beautiful and, incidentally, the third largest Spanish city of Valencia is located in a picturesque place, where the Tulia River joins the Mediterranean Sea. The beauty of the area was appreciated by the ancient Romans, who founded a settlement here, over the centuries of history, enriched with medieval cathedrals, chic palaces, narrow cobbled streets and ultra-modern museum exhibitions. But the most valuable thing here is, of course, the sea in Valencia and gorgeous sandy beaches that are ready to cool off any tourist ardor and save you from the sweltering summer heat.
Climate
The subtropical climate and seaside location have guaranteed Valencia warm, sunny weather in summer and warm but rainy winter. Therefore, in January there is 12 ° above zero, and in June-July 30 ° and more. Summer at the resort lasts from late April to October, although it is better to choose the period from June to September for swimming.
The warmest water is in July and August, during these months in the sea it is already 28 °, while in the rest of the swimming season it is about 25-26 °. In autumn, the sea begins to move away from hot passions, as evidenced by a decrease in temperature to 23 °. By the end of October, the water reaches 20-22 °, and in November it becomes cool to swim at the resort and the lion's share of holidaymakers leave the local area in search of warmer corners. In winter, the sea water temperature is 13-15 °, which is not enough for swimming, but enough for diving in thermal protective suits. Many swim even in January-February.
The sea in Valencia is different - while pleasant waves are splashing in some areas, there is a calm in the other, and some beach areas are great for surfers and other athletes due to the raging elements. Storms are infrequent, but on such days it is better to find a safer activity than swimming.
It is almost always windy on the coast, in addition, strong ebbs and flows are recorded here. The water near the coast can be cloudy with a large crowd of tourists, but the picture changes further from the coast.
The main advantage of the local sea, although it seems to some to be a disadvantage, is the shallow bottom. To get to the real depth, you will have to walk more than a dozen meters. But tourists with children can only benefit from this - they don't have to worry about the safety of little bathers.
Beach holidays by the sea in Valencia
Valencia has five city beaches and many countryside. All municipalities with free admission and paid rental of sun beds and awnings. Local people prefer their own mats to paid loungers, which they spread on the soft golden sand.
In the city, the beaches are dirty due to the large number of tourists. Suburban areas are much more attractive and picturesque, but you don't always want to get to them in the summer heat.
By the way, hot weather is one of the main dangers of the Mediterranean Sea, much more insidious than currents, waves and sea predators. During your stay on the beach, be sure to hide from the sun under an umbrella, otherwise you can get severely burned or overheated. There are often cases when gullible tourists do not notice the heat due to sea breezes and end up in the hospital. In this case, the rest will be hopelessly ruined and not the best memories will remain of the resort.
The most popular tourist community unanimously recognizes the following five beaches:
- Las Arenas.
- Saler.
- Farnal.
- Patacona.
- Malvarosa.
In addition to the standard service of umbrellas and sun loungers, there are playgrounds, cafes, bars, attractions and the sale of local fast food - sweet corn grilled on coals.
Well, how can you spend a few days at sea in Valencia and never go water skiing, scooter or tickle your nerves with a parachute?
Fly-boarding, paddle-surfing, snorkeling and diving are held in high esteem, although the latter is more for beginners. Seasoned divers are unlikely to be impressed by the local sea. There are many places for diving, depths from 25 meters or more.
Flora and fauna of the Mediterranean Sea
The population of the aquatic kingdom is moray eels, barracudas, octopuses, crabs, shrimps, molluscs, all kinds of shells, lobsters, dolphins, stingrays, the ubiquitous jellyfish and colorful fish. You will not see anything overly spectacular here, but it is enough to amaze the eyes of the layman.
The visibility in the water is 20-25 meters.
