Once upon a time it was, indeed, a small town in which lived a "restless girl" who dreamed of personal happiness, as was sung in a famous song. Today, walks around Samara demonstrate that this settlement has increased significantly in size, and the number of its inhabitants has exceeded a million (seventh place in Russia).
The name "small town" comes from the first toponym, which was built here in the 16th century, an outpost, its main purpose - the protection of Russian borders. Today, on the contrary, the townspeople demonstrate a benevolent attitude towards each guest who comes on an excursion as part of a group or on their own.

You can start sightseeing from the historical center of the city, where buildings dating back to different centuries of Samara history have been preserved. The second way to get to know Samara is to walk through its record-breaking objects, in this list the following buildings and territorial objects can be distinguished:
- Samara railway station, a modern architectural masterpiece, the highest station in Europe;
- the embankment in Samara is also one of the longest streets in the Russian Federation;
- another record-breaking object is Kuibyshev Square, one of the largest urban squares in Europe.
Historical center of Samara
It is located, as it should be, in the center of the city; there are several excursion routes covering different periods of the history of Samara. One of them is associated with stone buildings dating from the middle of the 19th - the beginning of the 20th centuries, rich Samara merchants lived in the houses.
The second popular tourist destination is associated with Art Nouveau architecture, many of these buildings are also located in the central part of the city.
Among the interesting objects are Samarskaya Square and the Lutheran Church, Klodt's mansion and the Iversky Convent. In the center of the square is the figure of a worker holding wings in his hands. Local old-timers and guides will talk about the city's great contribution to the development of the Russian aviation industry.
The Lutheran Church is an architectural complex of religious buildings, the construction of which began in 1865. Ivan Klodt is one of the most famous Samara merchants, the memory of this original man is preserved thanks to the mansion he built for his family. You can admire this stone structure for hours, decorated with towers, balconies and weathercocks.
