In 2011, another Russian region acquired its own heraldic sign. On the one hand, the coat of arms of the Yaroslavl region corresponds to the main official symbol of its capital, on the other hand, it has important elements. And the most interesting fact is that in the image there are two bears at once, one, as a symbol of Yaroslavl, the second has the role of a supporter.
Description of the coat of arms of the region
The sketch of the coat of arms was developed by the artist D. V. Ivanov, specializing in heraldic symbols, under the guidance of the historian M. Yu. Medvedev. The description was prepared by the historian, a well-known specialist in the field of heraldry, M. Yu. Diunov. The first version of the sign appeared in 1998, then three versions were equally valid:
- small coat of arms in the form of a shield with elements;
- a large coat of arms, in which, in addition to the shield, there were supporters;
- a large honorary coat of arms, the previous version, supplemented by a helmet, a green patterned base, an emerald-colored royal mantle with a lining (ermine fur).
The modern coat of arms of the Yaroslavl region is a golden shield, which depicts a rebellious black bear. The formidable animal is shown standing on its hind legs, with its left front paw it holds a silver poleaxe on a scarlet shaft, the other paw is raised as if in greeting.
Above the shield, the authors placed the Yaroslavl princely cap. It has a scarlet lining, a silver edging of two rows of ermine tails. Three golden bows are visible, adorned with precious stones (gems and pearls).
Important persons
In the modern heraldic symbol of the Yaroslavl region, supporters are of great importance. On the left, the shield is supported by a silver deer with golden antlers, mane, hooves. In addition, you can see a precious headdress on the neck of the animal.
The role of the supporter on the right side is played by a black bear. His image is identical to the animal, placed in the center of the composition. Only the head of the predator supporting the live is turned towards the viewer, the mouth is open, a scarlet tongue stands out. The head of the bear is adorned with a golden crown, in which an experienced historian can easily recognize the Russian imperial crown, which adorned the coats of arms of many cities of the empire. Thanks to the strict selection of colors (precious shades and noble black) and symbols, the coat of arms of the Yaroslavl region looks very stylish.
At the moment, the main points regarding the coat of arms of the region are spelled out in the regulation. According to this document, one-color and full-color images are allowed. An important point is that there is no pictorial standard, but it is necessary to adhere to a detailed heraldic description.
